The Arrival

Ignore the street address and get close to the corner of 9th & Hennepin. Parking bites. Spacious once you're inside, kind of dark, but you can see all the tanks in the loft through glass above the bar.

The Beer

Heifer-Weizen - Aroma is lemon/orange/banana-basically, fruit salad. Typically fruit HW.
Reviewer's Rating: 3 - Equal to most macrobrews. Not too bad; nothing special.

Catcher in the Rye - Being not a huge rye fan, I liked this lighter bodied offering. Still malty sweet, one is enough. Very smooth. Good with the Ahi.
Reviewer's Rating: 5 - Now this is beer. Would definitely drink again.

North Star Premium Lager - Coors. Hint of honey.
Reviewer's Rating: 2 - Only if it's free. And then, maybe not.

American Dream IPA - Floral aroma. Dusty dry; leaves a pouckery mouth. Better pale ales available here.
Reviewer's Rating: 4 - A decent beer. Slightly above average.

Itasca Extra Pale Ale - Aroma-banana / oranges / green grapes/ pineapple. Definitely an X-Pale, perfect for its style, comparable to 3 Floyds.
Reviewer's Rating: 5 - Now this is beer. Would definitely drink again.

Itasca (CASK) - Close to the regular Itasca. Lighter body; a little more citrus/orange, more pale, loger aftertaste.
Reviewer's Rating: 6 - Excellent. Order another one right away or take a growler home.

Cole Porter - A hollow-y porter, but still a good one.
Reviewer's Rating: 5 - Now this is beer. Would definitely drink again.

Dunn Bros. Coffee Porter (CASK) - Like espresso? Here ya go. Similar to Gray's or Bent River; slightly lighter body.
Reviewer's Rating: 5 - Now this is beer. Would definitely drink again.

Big Horn Nut Brown - Medium body, nutty flavor.
Reviewer's Rating: 5 - Now this is beer. Would definitely drink again.

Discussion with Todd Haug

Got to sit down with the manager. Great guy, very helpful. He seved me Ahi and even tried a couple half-and-half combinations with me.

The Atmosphere

Seared Ahi. Their description: "Fresh Ahi tuna rolled in black pepper and sesame, then flash-seared sushi style. Served chilled over Asian cabbage with Ponzu sauce." Excellent. Excellent. Excellent.

Afterthoughts

The most consistent, if not the best, beer in the Twin Cities. No huge sock-knockin' 7s, but solid all the way through. Rivaled perhaps only by Town Hall or Great Waters.
