The Arrival

Was in town to see a Dwight Yoakem concert with a friend. Raccon River was close by and near a lot of other commercial businesses. Might be a little harder to find parking during the work week.

The Beer

A nice 7oz sampler is always a good start. Each staff member seems to have their own mixed tapspecialty. The Vanilla Cream Ale & The Stonecutter Stout are mixed as a dessert beer. As our bartender, Tim, put it, "Stout & Red, Red & IPA, whatever you want to do."

Tallgrass Light - Light. This is their beer marketed to the bud lite drinkers. A good converter.
Reviewer's Rating: 4 - A decent beer. Slightly above average.

Tallgrass Ale - Same as the Tallgrass Light, with a bit more flavor. If your a Bud drinker, this one will convert you... A good session beer.
Reviewer's Rating: 4 - A decent beer. Slightly above average.

Homestead Red - Malty & Sweet...
Reviewer's Rating: 3 - Equal to most macrobrews. Not too bad; nothing special.

Bandit IPA - Light & Hoppy... Less bitter than your average IPA. Very drinkable, making it a great session beer. Watch out for the higher alcohol content, it sneaks up on you.
Reviewer's Rating: 4 - A decent beer. Slightly above average.

Vanilla Cream Ale - Vanilla is very over-powering. After your tastebuds recover, you taste the Tallgrass Light underneath it.
Reviewer's Rating: 3 - Equal to most macrobrews. Not too bad; nothing special.

Stonecutter Stout - Black. Mild grainy aroma. Smooth & Roasty
Reviewer's Rating: 4 - A decent beer. Slightly above average.

The Atmosphere

Staff was friendly and talkative. With a nice restaurant on on the first floor, I felt a little out of place wearing jeans. Luckily the bar on the second floor was a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere.

Afterthoughts

The IPA was definetly my favorite. The rest were good, but not very rememberable. With the pool tables on the second floor and the batrooms on the first floor, be prepared to get some exercise. I would like to come back and visit the restaurant and have another IPA.
