"When I look up, I just trip over things." Ani DiFranco
The eight to five that turned out to be
the seven to two, six days,
sort of curbed the drinking binges--
Except for nights like this
when I can't remember that I ever wrote
poetry for anyone else,
and all I think about is you
because I'm drinking Heinekin,
like I did with you;
and I'm remorseful, like I always am
and I want your lips on mine,
your hands on my back and
your hips pressing into mine...
these are the nights when responsibility
takes a back-seat to beer.
