"When I look up, I just trip over things." Ani DiFranco
Right Now (4 AM)
I don't want to think about
how many or where or why or
It doesn't really matter
what I was talking about
or how long you let me ramble.
What I'm faced with, at the end,
is close to sunrise,
me and the mirror and this keyboard
and a buzz that fades by the minute.
This time of day is all about
what are all the pills for, if
I still end up with this?
What am I paying that doctor for
when bartenders fix it just as well?
Prozac and Lithium and Effexor and Depakote
and domestic draft is so much cheaper,
so much more social.
(Leaves me whining just as hard.)
