The Beer

Old Davenport Gold - Light and smooth, common, a standard catch-all beer. Dan says, "Old Milwaukee Gold - Old Style Gold - Actually a bit more amber and malty."
Reviewer's Rating: n/a

Raging River Ale - We've entered Beerville! This is THE beer to drink at Front Street. Hoppy, but semi-sweet like some English ales. Very smooth, with an mild amber malt taste. Smooth and mild on the draw with just enough finish to remind you it's an ale.
Reviewer's Rating: n/a

Cherry Ale - Smith Brothers cough drops. It's a holiday sippin' festive beer enjoyed in small quantities.
Reviewer's Rating: n/a

Hefeweizen - Straight up HW, unfiltered with banana undertones. We were told this was the beer to try, but we don't see it standing above most HWs.
Reviewer's Rating: n/a

Scotch Ale - Tastes like a Scotch and water without most of the alcohol. Roasted caramel (Roger) or fatty acid (Dan) aftertaste.
Reviewer's Rating: n/a

Bucktown Stout - In between an imperial stout and shoe leather. Bitey alcohol taste with malt sweetness, but the alcohol overtakes the natural flavor.

Discussion with Steve Zuidema

Didn't get to talk with Steve Zuidema, co-owner and brewer.

The Atmosphere

We ordered Brewhouse Burgers with cheddar and bacon. The burgers were standard pub fare. The fries were obviously fried in the same oil as fish, since all we could think of as the smell permeated the area was Long John Silvers.

Afterthoughts

Not a bad place to hang out if you're downtown in Davenport near the river and convention center. The Raging River Ale is the only beer we can strongly recommend, or possibly the Hefeweizen.
